Welcome to the Raspberry Patch
We would like to welcome both students and parents to the
Raspberry Patch. Your teachers are Ms. Cindy, Ms. Kim and Mr. Rocco. We look forward to being part of your child’s life and helping them grow.
Here are some things we would like you to know:
Clothing- Your child will need a change of clothing including a shirt, pants, underwear, socks, and a pair of shoes. We ask that you check it periodically to ensure that he or she has the correct season and proper size of clothing. Please make sure to label all clothing. The change of clothes will be located in their shoebox on a shelf in the bathroom for convenient changing.
Cubby- Each child is given a cubby with their name and symbol on it. The picture and symbol will help them to recognize where their rest time things go. It will also help to learn to recognize their name.
Hook- Each child is given a hook to hang their coat, backpack, and winter clothing on. Their hooks also have their name, symbol, and picture on them to help them find their own space easier.
Rest Time- We have rest time everyday. Please bring in a small pillow and blanket. These will be put in a cubby on a shelf in our classroom. It will have their name, symbol, and picture on it as well. We ask that the blankets be taken home and washed the last day that your child attends for the week and returned the next week. This helps keep the spread of germs to a minimum.
Themes- Each week of the school year we will be learning and discovering a new theme. You will be getting a calendar with all of the themes on it. Our lesson plans for the week will be posted on the parent board outside the classroom. It will also be e-mailed to you. Please make sure you give us an updated e-mail address for you. We want to make sure everyone gets the information they need. Please make sure you read the parent board. This is where we will be posting any upcoming events in the classroom.
Mailboxes- Your child will have a mailbox in the classroom. It will have their name and symbol on it. Please make sure you check it daily for information and projects. Be sure to check the parent mailbox in the hallway across from the main lobby. This is where center wide information will be.
Classroom Size- The classroom size is a little larger then young preschool. There is one teacher for every ten children. We encourage self-help, independence, and helping each other, but are certainly there when help is needed.
Toileting- We are still working on being independent in the bathroom. The things we will work on are being successful on the potty, wiping and flushing. We will also be working on washing and drying are hands independently. If your child has special needs for example: a need for total privacy, or needs help wiping, please let us know.
Allergies- If your child has allergies or has grown out of one please let us know. We do have some children with food allergies. ALL outside food must be approved by Ms. Val our food services director prior to bringing in food to the school. We do keep an allergy list in the classroom. We serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We encourage “no thank you bites” so children can have an opportunity to experience new foods.
Communication- Your teachers are a team. We will do our best to communicate with you. We feel it is very important to have great teacher/ parent communication. Please feel free to come into our classroom at any time. If you would like to talk to us during the day our extension is 29. The best time to call is between 1:00-3:00. You can also e-mail us at raspberry@peeweepatch.com. Conferences are offered twice a year. You will be notified of dates and times prior to the conferences.
Thank You,
